About the role
This hands‑on workshop role is a key part of our niche manufacturing environment. You'll work directly on the production of our products, including the operation of our screen machines (full training provided), while also supervising a small team to ensure work runs smoothly, safely, and to high‑quality standards. The role blends practical, technical work with team support, quality oversight, and collaboration across departments, making it ideal for someone with mechanical know‑how and a steady leadership style, who enjoys being hands on.
How you will do this
Supervise your work area and team on the production floor, planning daily jobs and machine set‑ups.
Monitor tooling and equipment condition, troubleshoot operational issues, and support in‑house maintenance.
Ensure materials are prepared and delivered on time to meet production schedules.
Maintain high‑quality standards through regular checks, documentation, and adherence to SOPs.
Promote a safe working environment, including regular toolbox talks, correct PPE use, and following safety procedures.
Support and mentor team members, providing feedback, guidance, and training as required.
Keep accurate records for QA, stock control, and production reporting.
Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting process enhancements and participating in production meetings.

About you
You're an experienced workshop professional with a strong background in manufacturing, confident operating and supervising machinery while leading a small team.
You have a sharp eye for detail, can troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently, and take pride in delivering high‑quality products on time.
You're comfortable balancing hands‑on work with office‑based responsibilities, maintaining accurate records for QA and stock control, and collaborating closely with other team leaders.
You have a mechanical trade, significant sheet metal fabrication experience, or engineering qualification.
