About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and reliable on‑site IT Support Technician to provide physical support for end‑user devices, meeting room technology, and asset lifecycle tasks. This role is critical in supporting IT operations in the Melbourne office and reducing the workload on senior infrastructure staff by taking ownership of physical and front‑line technical responsibilities that cannot be managed remotely.


Key Responsibilities


1. Device Build and Asset Management

* Perform imaging, software installation, configuration, and updates for Windows laptops and desktops.
* Install and configure standard applications (Chrome, Edge, Adobe, etc.).
* Maintain accurate records in the asset management system and complete device allocation forms.
* Perform periodic inventory audits (e.g., old equipment stocktake for disposal/vendor evaluation).


2. End‑User Physical Support

* Provide Level 1–2 desktop support for local users, including troubleshooting software, hardware, and peripheral issues.
* Provide desk‑side assistance for setups, replacements, and urgent user incidents.
* Liaise with senior IT and remote team members for escalation and coordination.


3. Meeting Room and AV Support

* Assist with setup, testing, and issue resolution of screens, wireless dongles, and AV equipment.


4. Vendor Coordination and Logistics

* Coordinate hardware deliveries, rack installations, and assist in physical office moves.
* Provide hands‑on support for IT relocations and cable patching under senior direction.


5. General IT Support & Incident Handling

* Be the local point of contact when other site contacts are unavailable.
* Assist with simple troubleshooting of networking and connectivity issues.
* Follow up with MSPs on incidents requiring local verification or testing.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience


Education and Experience

* Certificate/Diploma or higher in Information Technology or related field.
* 2+ years in Level 1–2 desktop support roles.
* Experience supporting in‑office hardware and meeting room tech in a corporate environment.


Technical Proficiency

* Experience with Windows 11, Office 365, and basic AD user management.
* Strong understanding of laptop/desktop hardware, peripheral setup, and device imaging.
* Exposure to collaboration platforms and meeting room technology.
* Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP, DNS, Wi‑Fi troubleshooting).


Soft Skills

* Customer focus: Professional, proactive, and responsive approach to user support.
* Time management: Ability to work independently, prioritise and follow through without supervision.
* Teamwork: Works well with remote team members and vendors.
* Attention to detail: Especially with asset tracking, installations, and system updates.
