Role Overview
The Forensic Mental Health Psychologist is a vital member of our multidisciplinary team, providing expert clinical and forensic psychological services to individuals referred to our Regional Forensic Mental Health Service.
This challenging role requires the ability to undertake comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide consultancy and advice to other agencies and stakeholders. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for assessing and delivering treatment interventions to clients in various settings, including prisons and secure residential facilities.
About the Role
* Conduct thorough assessments and risk evaluations to inform treatment plans and ensure the safety of clients and staff.
* Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the complex needs of clients, incorporating evidence-based practices and interventions.
* Provide expert advice and consultancy to other clinicians, professionals, and stakeholders on matters related to clinical and forensic psychology.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to contribute to patient risk management plans and ensure seamless service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake court-ordered assessments, evaluate risk for violence, and provide expert opinions in court proceedings as required.
* Deliver individual and group-based interventions, focusing on skills development, behavioral change, and cognitive restructuring.
* Assess and deliver treatment interventions to clients in external settings, including prison facilities and secure residential settings.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines related to clinical and forensic psychology within the service.
Requirements
* Masters or Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology OR a Doctoral degree in Forensic Psychology.
* AHPRA Registration and AHPRA approved area of practice in Clinical Psychology and/or Forensic Psychology.
* At least five years' experience practicing as a fully registered psychologist, with a strong background in clinical and forensic psychology.
* Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery and knowledge of relevant legislation, the mental health system, and the criminal justice system.
* Extensive knowledge of current psychological approaches in working with mentally and behaviorally disordered clients in the forensic mental health setting.
