General Assignment Reporter – Law360 Australia

Location: Sydney or Melbourne, Onsite, Full‐time. Join Law360's Australian bureau to shape the future of legal and financial journalism.

About the Role

Reporting on developments across a variety of industries and legal practice areas, the General Assignment Reporter delivers timely, accurate and engaging news stories. The ideal candidate brings strong news judgment, curiosity, the ability to respond quickly to evolving news cycles, and a solid understanding of Australia's legal landscape.

Responsibilities

* Report and write daily legal news articles with speed, accuracy and strong news judgment
* Write clear, compelling and accurate headlines
* Adhere to Law360's editorial standards and in‐house style guidelines
* Build and maintain strong relationships with sources
* Collaborate closely with fellow reporters, editors and global Law360 teams for cohesive coverage
* Contribute to editorial meetings and support story development and newsroom planning
* Use approved LexisNexis tools, including AI‐assisted technologies, responsibly within governance frameworks to support editorial workflows
* Participate in ongoing training and professional development initiatives

Requirements

Proven relevant skills gained through experience will be considered. Qualifications in journalism, media or related field. Exceptional communication skills. At least one year of full‐time paid reporting experience. Demonstrated reporting and writing skills. Research, analytical & database skills. Experience reporting for a business or legal audience (preferred).
