About the role
We are searching for an exceptional General Manager to lead the growth of Halters Australian Southern States (Victoria, Tasmania & South Australia) Business. We're looking for someone with commercial nous, X‑factor charisma and the ability to overcome complex challenges. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in leading the region's growth into the hundreds of millions of ARR.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Halters growth in the Southern States of Australia, building relationships across New Zealand and Australia's most influential farming leaders while working closely with senior leaders and the executive team.
* Own the end‑to‑end go‑to‑market strategy in VIC, TAS & S.A, collaborating with other leaders to deliver results from lead generation through to conversion and customer outcomes.
* Manage and develop a high‑performance team of Territory Managers, setting clear targets, driving KPIs and motivating people to achieve ambitious growth objectives.
* Drive strategic leadership by developing and implementing a comprehensive regional strategy, identifying new market opportunities and fostering deep relationships with regional agricultural groups.
* Operate a high‑level state ownership model, owning commercial outcomes for Halters in VIC, TAS & S.A and aligning with broader Halter leaders.
* Lead sales activities, including prospecting, pipeline management, and the negotiation of contracts to meet high‑growth sales targets.
* Collaborate with support teams to resolve customer issues quickly and ensure a seamless, positive customer experience across the entire lifecycle.
* Participate in recruiting, sourcing, screening and interviewing candidates, and drive overall state resourcing plans.
* Forecast revenue, working with GTM leaders to enable monthly and quarterly forecasting.
Qualifications
* Market Leadership: Deep knowledge of the market and VIC, TAS & S.A farm systems accompanied by commercial nous and critical thinking.
* Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to think first principles, develop and execute regional strategy, and lead business units to ambitious goals.
* Sales & Commercial: Demonstrated success owning end‑to‑end sales processes, driving pipeline growth and delivering revenue.
* Sales Leadership & Results: Track record of setting targets, motivating teams and achieving high‑growth results.
* Sales Process: Strong understanding of a value‑based consultative sales process and ability to evolve existing processes to meet market needs.
* Customer Success: Expertise in delivering scalable customer experiences that drive retention and ARR expansion.
* Technical Team Leadership: Hands‑on leader, keen to engage in the details of solution delivery and fieldwork.
* Team Management: Skilled in setting clear performance expectations, KPIs, providing regular feedback and fostering a collaborative culture.
* Training & Development: Experience designing and implementing training programs that build team capabilities.
* Recruiting: Proven ability to source talent, promote roles and attract world‑class candidates.
* Cultural Leadership: Demonstrates a tenacious attitude, fosters high‑performance culture, and promotes psychological safety.
* Performance Management: History of increasing team capability and managing low performers effectively.
What your day could look like
* Field Meetings, Learnings & Feedback: Lead from the front in the field with farmers most weeks, providing coaching and gathering customer feedback.
* Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a regional strategy to expand market presence and achieve growth objectives.
* Team Leadership: Own commercial execution of your team and drive pipeline management.
* State Ownership: Foster relationships across the industry to drive commercial outcomes for Halter in VIC, TAS & S.A.
* Hitting Sales Targets: Manage and screen leads, demonstrate the product, and negotiate contracts to meet high‑growth targets.
* Prospecting & Expansion: Source new leads and opportunities through outreach, referrals, events and other channels.
* Collaborating with Support Teams: Ensure customer issues are resolved quickly and the state's customers feel fully supported.
* Customer Success: Work closely with Territory Managers and Customer Support teams to retain and expand customers.
* Recruiting: Source, screen and interview candidates while driving state resourcing plans.
* Networking: Build and leverage industry relationships to establish and maintain Halter's brand.
* Forecasting: Enable monthly and quarterly revenue forecasting with GTM leaders.

Halter entered Tasmania two years ago and now manages 20% of the state's dairy herd. Halter recently entered Queensland and has a growing team. In Victoria, NSW, South Australia and Western Australia Halter is still building out demand as virtual fencing is regulated by individual state legislation.
