Job Description
Our Role
This Financial Accountant is central to the accurate execution of the month-end process, encompassing the completion of journals, calculating prepayments/provisions, and performing balance sheet reconciliations while ensuring strict compliance with and accounting standards. The position also requires collaboration with business teams to finalise accounts, leading variance investigations to provide insightful analysis, and assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts and process improvements.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
- Execute the core month-end close process, including preparing journal postings, calculating prepayments/provisions, and completing P&L; statements with cost analysis and variance commentary.
- Manage and reconcile balance sheet accounts and fixed asset registers, ensuring the accurate maintenance of accounting records and finance policy compliance.
- Prepare statutory accounts, internal/external disclosures, and compile all necessary documentation for statutory, grant, and internal audits, liaising directly with auditors.
- Lead variance investigations and provide insightful, evidence-based financial analysis to support strategic business decision-making.
- Partner and collaborate with business, commercial, and shared services teams to finalize accounts and resolve outstanding issues promptly.
- Handle tax compliance work, including the preparation of tax returns, BAS and FBT.
- Maintain and improve internal controls and functional processes, actively identifying and assisting with the implementation of operational efficiencies and automation projects.
- Coordinate and report on stocktakes and support the Financial Controller with ad hoc special projects and assignments.

What we are looking for
We are looking for an enthusiastic marketing professional to join our team who:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a medium to large organisation
- Experience managing a small team
- Advanced stakeholder management and coordination skills
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian & International Financial Reporting Standards
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills
- Has the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines to achieve required outcomes.
- A high level of proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office suite.
- Prior experience with large ERP systems like NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP is highly desirable.
