Green Light Australiaare looking to engage a SQL DBA with azure experience to join their team.
Responsibilities
* Manage and support Microsoft SQL Server across both Azure and on‐premises environments, including build, configuration, and ongoing operations.
* Proactively monitor system availability and performance, identifying and resolving issues while optimising queries, indexing strategies, and maintenance processes.
* Design, implement, and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery solutions, conducting regular restore and DR tests to meet defined recovery objectives.
* Oversee database security, access controls, auditing, and data protection, ensuring alignment with least‐privilege principles and compliance standards.
* Execute patching, upgrades, and migrations with robust change management, validation, and rollback planning.
* Provide technical support to engineers and users by troubleshooting database issues and offering guidance on SQL and data platform best practices.
* Log and manage incidents and changes via ITSM tool (Remedy and ServiceNow).
Requirements
* Extensive experience in similar role as a SQL DBA for large corporate companies
* Due to access requirements of the role, Australian citizens are required or ideally you will have a valid security clearance (e.g., baseline, nv1, nv2 or higher)
* Proven experience with Azure and on premise environments including build, configuration and operations
* Strong experience in scripting (T‐SQL and/or PowerShell)
* Experience with design, implementation and maintaining backup, restore, and disaster recovery solutions, conducting regular restore and DR tests to meet defined recovery objectives.
* Good experience with SQL Server High Availability / Disaster Recovery (e.g., Always On Availability Groups)
* Good experience with Database security and compliance (access control, auditing, encryption)
* Windows Server / virtualisation exposure supporting database workloads (VMware/Hyper‐V)
* Certificates such as ITIL, Azure Administrator or SQL Server/Azure SQL will be seen as advantageous
* Good communication skills and stakeholder engagement skills
