Labourer - Calen Depot
Are you ready to make a hands-on impact in your community? Mackay Regional Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Labourer to join our Civil Operations team at the Calen Depot. In this role, you will carry out a variety of labouring, plant, and truck operation duties to support the maintenance and construction of roads, drainage, and other civil infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Operate rigid motor vehicles (up to 15 tonnes), small ride-on equipment, and light mechanical plant
Perform tasks associated with road, drainage, and civil infrastructure maintenance and construction, including earthworks, concrete, pipelaying, bitumen, and vegetation work
Provide competent traffic management and control at work sites
Maintain assigned plant and equipment, including daily checks and basic repairs
Use technology/software devices to manage work orders and assign tasks
Deliver high-quality client service to internal and external stakeholders
Complete required paperwork promptly and accurately
Participate in on-the-job training and skill development
Support a safe work environment and comply with all WH&S obligations
What You'll Bring
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Current General Construction Safety 'White' Card
Current QLD Manual Car 'C' Class Open Driver's Licence
Current QLD Medium Rigid Truck 'MR' Class Licence (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
Current Traffic Controllers accreditation (TCT & TMI) (or ability to obtain within 3 months)
Experience in truck driving, operating small ride-on equipment, and road/drainage construction and maintenance
Desirable
Certificate II in Civil Construction
Experience with Asset Management Software (AMS), preferably Assetic AMS
Experience in traffic control and bitumen tasks
Skills & Attributes

Special Requirements
Willingness to work overtime as required
Flexibility to operate other construction equipment and undertake higher duties
