Specialty Lead - Psychiatry
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI) as a Specialty Lead - Psychiatry, in the Mental Health (MHP) Portfolio.
The role’s primary purpose is to support our Psychiatry courses through discipline specific input into the development and ongoing improvement of the HETI Psychiatry courses and other relevant units of study.

The role is based in Sydney at 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards in a modern, purpose-built 5 star rated green campus that is well serviced by public transport and access to public parking. Selection Criteria:
- A medical qualification and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with demonstrated practical experience as a specialist or consultant, as well as specialist qualification relevant to the specialisation such as Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent.
- Evidence of being a mental health expert with current specialised professional development and relevant practice experience including implementation of the principles of consumer focused and recovery-oriented treatment.
- Evidence of educational leadership experience and the provision of mental health education and its applications within relevant contexts in NSW. This may include experience and skills in the delivery, evaluation and strategic leadership of specialist mental health training or education; commitment to continuing medical education and professional development; being a mentor to junior colleagues, educating other health professionals and undergraduate or postgraduate students; experience in the preparation, evaluation and critical review of literature, research publications and reports.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary team across multiple sites.
- Evidenced strong understanding of current policies, frameworks and issues in the field of psychiatry and mental health, with the capacity to identify strategic implications that will affect course development, design, delivery and evaluation to benefit learners and meet the needs of the broader health system, consumers and carers.
- Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills, showing the capacity for critical analysis and the capacity to inform innovative strategic solutions and manage competing issues.
- Strong planning, project management and organisational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage competing tasks, meet deadlines and achieve targets and track and manage status and dependencies across multiple strategic initiatives.
