About the Role

Reporting to the Clinical Director of Medical Services (DMS), this role is responsible for providing effective day to day clinical management of both ambulatory and admitted patients/residents/clients within Colac Area Health while fulfilling Medical Board of Australia registration requirements.

You will be responsible for the day to day operations, ensuring high quality care is provided to patients and their families within applicable financial frameworks, budgetary constraints, quality standards and legislative requirements. This role is supported by an established nursing team which has created a positive and supportive environment.

As a Senior Medical Officer, your role will complement Supervising GPs in providing medical care to our patients, supervision of Hospital Medical Officers, and working closely with a group of clinicians. Depending on your areas of interest, you may be overseeing service delivery and/or training programs at Colac Area Health (CAH).


Responsibilities

* Provide day to day clinical management of ambulatory and admitted patients within Colac Area Health in compliance with registration and professional standards.
* Collaborate with Supervising GPs, Hospital Medical Officers, and other clinicians to deliver medical care and oversee service delivery where appropriate.
* Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to training programs as required.
* Ensure care within financial frameworks, budgetary constraints, quality standards, and legislative requirements.
* Support a positive, safe, and collaborative work environment within the nursing team.


Qualifications

* General registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with no restrictions.
* Fellows of clinical Colleges (RACGP, ACRRM, ACEM, or RNZCUC), or postgraduate Emergency Medicine training (Emergency Medicine Certificate, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma equivalent).
* Critical Care, Emergency, or Urgent Care clinical experience with competency for independent practice.
* Experience in the support and supervision of junior medical staff.
* Rights to work in Australia.
