Secondary Systems Design Engineer - HV Substations
This is a challenging role where you will lead the preparation of protection and secondary systems design packages for large-scale HV and EHV substation projects. You will work closely with primary, civil, and drafting teams to ensure design alignment.
* Developing and reviewing schematics, logic diagrams, and functional specifications.
* Coordinating with internal stakeholders, OEMs, and utilities as needed.
* Ensuring compliance with industry standards, QA, and client expectations.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in secondary systems design for HV & EHV substations and expertise in protection relays, control systems, and SCADA. A strong working knowledge of AS/NZS 61850 and relevant HV standards is also required.
As a highly skilled electrical engineer, you will be responsible for delivering protection and control designs from concept through to commissioning. This is a hands-on role with a balance of technical design, client interaction, and project input.
* Leading the development of technical proposals and responding to client inquiries.
* Collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify project opportunities and develop solutions.
* Providing guidance on technical matters related to secondary systems design.
What you'll bring:
* Proven experience in secondary systems design for HV & EHV substations.
* Expertise in protection relays, control systems, and SCADA.
* Strong working knowledge of AS/NZS 61850 and relevant HV standards.
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
* CPEng (or working towards) and EA membership preferred.
