Key Responsibilities
* Lead an engineering function within a sub-domain of a product area, overseeing cross-cutting initiatives across engineering.
* Co-own and drive the delivery of sub-domain OKRs with product and design counterparts, ensuring alignment and progress towards shared goals.
* Manage multiple squads to ensure high-quality, secure software delivery in an Agile environment, including:
o Overseeing architecture discussions and solution design
o Providing regular updates to senior stakeholders
o Assisting teams facing challenges and providing guidance and support
* Assess hiring needs, develop effective hiring strategies, and onboard new team members, promoting a culture of growth and development.
* Build strong relationships and collaborate closely with product, commercial, UX, and client teams, fostering a collaborative environment that drives success.
* Work with architecture and principal engineers to identify and implement best technical solutions and engineering practices, driving innovation and improvement.
* Continuously seek opportunities for improvement in Agile processes, technology adoption, and engineering practices across the domain, driving a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
* Maintain a hands-on role in code development, contributing up to 40% for mature teams or 20% for new teams, staying close to the code and its implementation.
* Manage engineering managers, lead engineers, and engineers, setting clear expectations, supporting career development, reviewing delivery plans, and conducting HR processes, ensuring effective leadership and management.
* Define and execute the engineering roadmap, driving strategic initiatives such as cloud migration and shift-left programs.
* Establish team OKRs quarterly, review progress, and communicate effectively with stakeholders, promoting transparency and accountability.
* Oversee resource planning and budgeting within your allocated scope, including hiring and onboarding, ensuring effective use of resources and talent.
* Collaborate with Product Management to define the team's purpose, goals, and roadmap, aligning engineering efforts with business objectives.
* Built applications using C# .NET Core with a React frontend, leveraging modern technologies and frameworks.
* Experience with microservices architecture, REST APIs, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud providers (GCP, Azure, AWS), ensuring scalable and efficient system design.
* Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Octopus, GitLab, Argo, streamlining development and deployment processes.
* Drive individual development plans and coaching for team growth, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
