Job Description
The Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) Apprentice Jockey Training Program (AJTP) is a 4-year apprenticeship program designed to develop high-performance athletes for a career in racing. During their apprenticeship, apprentices are supported by jockey coaches, industry sports doctor, nutritionist, sports psychologist and fitness coach.
Jockeys need to maintain a high level of physical fitness to meet the demands of racing. The role of a Fitness coach will be to provide fitness sessions focusing on cardiovascular exercises, strength training, and flexibility exercises for our apprentices to stay in optimal physical condition. While some guidance around diet and weight management can be incorporated into the role, these areas are primarily supported through our jockey coaches and associated partners that specialise and understand the needs of light weight athletes.
About the role
* Facilitate fortnightly group training sessions incorporating, Flexibility, Cardio, Strength Training.
* Liaise with associated partners to support diet and weight management of Apprentice Jockeys (when necessary).
* Work alongside Jockey Coaches to understand supporting needs.
* Create and facilitate rehabilitation programs (when required).
* Create Fitness Sessions to target key muscle groups.
* Manage programs and activities which incorporate stress relief, team building and friendly competitiveness.
Qualifications
About You
* Certificate IV in Fitness or similar
* Demonstration of remaining accredited and current across fitness trends suitable to industry
* Ability to create safe fitness programs to support apprentice jockeys to maintaining physical fitness across pre-trials, trials and race riding stages of apprenticeship
* C Grade Driver's License
* Working with Children's Check
* Police Clearance
* Ability to work alongside Jockey Coaches to understand the needs of apprentices regarding fitness and return from injury

This role is a contractor engagement. Candidates are required to have their ABN and will be onboarded as a RWWA contractor, you will be expected to invoice for the work provided.
