Overview
The University of Queensland invites applications for the position of Professor / Associate Professor, Teaching and Learning (Indigenous) - Identified s25. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 5 years in the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Engagement) based at UQ’s St Lucia campus. This position is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates only, as a genuine occupational requirement, to support UQ’s strategic direction for Indigenous Education.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for a team of academic and professional staff within the Office of the DVC (Indigenous Engagement).
- Develop and monitor the whole-of-university approach to Indigenous Education.
- Develop strategies to enhance recruitment and success of Indigenous students, and ensure appropriate support for Indigenous students.
- Engage with UQ’s Senior Executive Team, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) portfolio, Heads of UQ Student Colleges, and the UQ Union to advance key UQ strategies and initiatives.
- Contribute to policy development and the implementation of strategic plans and commitments (e.g., UQ Strategic Plan, Queensland Commitment, Reconciliation Action Plan, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research and Innovation Strategy).
- Lead in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander matters, with strong knowledge of organisational campaigns and external stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications and Experience
- PhD (or equivalent) with a national profile spanning teaching, research, and engagement.
- Demonstrated leadership in higher education, including strategic planning, curriculum development, and navigating legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander matters and prior engagement with external stakeholders.
