Operational Systems Pty Ltd (OpSys) is a South Australian–owned technology services company delivering managed IT, application support, and cybersecurity services to enterprise and government customers across Australia.
Due to the onboarding of a new enterprise application environment, we are seeking an Application Support Specialist to join our Adelaide-based team in a permanent, full-time role.
About the Role
This role is focused on the Level 2 support of a business-critical, Windows-based enterprise application used by a large national customer.
You will take ownership of incidents beyond first response, performing in-depth troubleshooting, managing escalations to the software vendor, and working closely with customer stakeholders. Full training on the application will be provided.
In addition to application support, you will assist OpSys' Projects and Engineering teams with customer implementations and provide support across our broader customer base as required.
This role is Adelaide-based and reports directly to the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide Level 2 application support for a mission-critical enterprise system
* Own incidents end-to-end, including diagnosis, resolution, escalation, and closure
* Perform troubleshooting across application, Windows Server, and database layers
* Monitor system health and proactively identify issues
* Escalate complex issues to vendors and manage cases through to resolution
* Communicate clearly with customer stakeholders
* Support Windows Server environments, including clustered services
* Assist with root cause analysis and service improvement initiatives
* Collaborate with internal engineering and project teams
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Experience in a Level 2 application or systems support role
* Strong working knowledge of Windows Server
* Practical experience troubleshooting Microsoft SQL Server
(service health, connectivity, performance — not DBA-level development)
* Experience working with structured incident and escalation processes
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
* Experience with Windows Failover Cluster Manager
* Exposure to alarm or control systems (e.g. Tecom Challenger)
* Experience with automation tools or workflow platforms
* Background supporting critical or high-availability systems
