About the WesTrac Apprenticeship Program
An apprenticeship with WesTrac allows you to earn while you learn.
Apprenticeships last for a 4 or 5 year period and upon completion, you will have gained a nationally recognised trade qualification and a wealth of both business and industry exposure.
You will be guided through our structured rotation program, designed to give you exposure to all areas of the business.
The apprenticeship will include regular travel to our Head Office in Tomago for training in blocks of 1-2 weeks. During these training periods, the company covers travel expenses and provides meals and accommodation.
Throughout the duration of your apprenticeship, you can expect to spend time in workshops, customer sites, and even field service opportunities.

This position is based from WesTrac Wagga Wagga.
As an Apprentice Plant Mechanic, you will learn how to:
* Inspect, diagnose, and repair a vast range of Caterpillar Mobile Plant equipment.
* Perform component overhauls and planned component change outs.
* Assemble new machines to customer specifications.
* Interpret schematics and technical drawings.
* Service machines and write service reports.
* Rebuild machines.
* Safely operate workshop equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and tools.
* Maintain a safe working environment.
* Navigate Caterpillar systems to ensure all work is done in accordance with Caterpillar's quality standard.
About You:
* You must be 16 years of age or over by December 9th, 2025.
* Great communication, reading, and writing skills are essential.
* You should have an interest and passion for machinery and hands-on learning.
* A driver's licence and reliable transport are required, or close to obtaining a driver's licence with the ability to get to and from work each day and to our Tomago Head Office for training (approximately 1 week per month in your first year).
* You should have a honest and reliable nature with a team-oriented mindset.
