Job Summary
The Commercial Engineer – Process works in close collaboration with the local geographic sales team, business units, and Rockwell's Partner Network to provide technical application expertise on process automation solution and system design, project opportunity pursuits, and technical marketing support/promotion to meet the company's Process business targets. This role utilizes domain expertise to identify key customer requirements and create a significant competitive advantage for the customer with Rockwell Automation's portfolio of products and solutions.
Your Responsibilities
* Proactively work with Rockwell's partners (distributors, system integrators, EPCs, and OEMs) to make product and solution recommendations that maximize Rockwell Automation's opportunity to win process control system orders, including technical clarification, control system cost/performance evaluation, technical trends, legacy system migration considerations, proof of concept, configuration testing, and application assistance.
* Provide technical consulting for key process applications and projects during all project stages including responses to RFIs, standards development, FAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting for key process application issues.
* Support customers with development of engineering standards, methods, and guidelines related to the application of Rockwell Automation's process technologies.
* Develop and execute complementary training of customer personnel on features, benefits, capabilities, performance, and applications specific to their application.
* Work with other Commercial Engineers to create product demonstrations that highlight particular feature sets.
The Essentials – You Will Have
* Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent)
* 8+ years of experience in engineering, configuration, and start‐up of process control systems, including significant exposure to Rockwell Automation's PlantPAx solution.
* Strong process/loop control/high‐availability/HMI application knowledge.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of process industry standards and terminology.
* Extensive experience interacting with customers and successfully resolving their unique requirements.
The Preferred – You Might Also Have
* Exposure to modern engineering workflows (CI/CD, Git, Simulation)
* Experience with SaaS/cloud reporting solutions used for operational, production, or asset performance visibility.
* Ability to travel 25% of the time.
