Position

Cross Government Officer – Clerk Grade 7/8 (Full‐time)

Location: Parramatta and Nowra, with other NSW office locations negotiable.

Salary (Grade 7/8): $110,266 to $122,058 (plus super).

Role

As an interface between Federal, State and Local government in NSW, the OLG Cross Government team acts as a conduit between the local government sector, the NSW State Government and the Federal Government of Australia on matters of government policy, regulations and priorities. In this role you'll help drive the team's liaison with councils and other government agencies, providing research, analysis and advice on policy and initiatives that impact the local government sector.

Responsibilities

  • Provide research, analysis and advice on policy and initiatives that impact the local government sector.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to inform future policy development and best‐practice in the sector.
  • Use research, analytical and communication skills to inform decision‐making and build strong cross‐government relationships.
  • Operate with tight deadlines and competing priorities, navigate complex policy landscapes, and ensure clarity and direction for key stakeholders on advice provided.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in policy development, research and project management.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyse emerging issues and develop practical, evidence‐based recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of government processes, legislation and policy frameworks.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach to managing multiple priorities in a fast‐paced environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in policy, government operations or project management.
