Role Overview
As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Mental Health Clinician is one of the more experienced roles in the headspace centre, providing focused psychological strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of the young people and families accessing the service within a community‑based mental health care setting. The role involves:
* Providing high‑standard assessments, psychological, counselling and therapeutic interventions to young people with mild to moderate severity, covering a wide range of presentations including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship and family conflict.
* Managing one's own caseload independently while collaborating with the wider clinical team.
* Running group programmes.
* Liaising and working with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
* General AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Nurse, or AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.
* Extensive, demonstrated experience providing clinical interventions to young people (12‑25 yrs).
* Strong judgment and evaluation skills with a working understanding of assessment and care planning.
* Sound understanding of the public, non‑government and private mental health systems and related programmes.
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills and sensitivity to work with people at risk of mental illness.
* Ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a team member.
* Organisational and time‑management skills, including working under pressure and balancing multiple tasks.
* Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
* Eligibility to apply and currently holding a WWCC.
* Willingness to hold or apply for an NDIS worker screening clearance.
