Registrar - Trainee - Neonates
This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time and Fixed Term Part Time appointments for 6-12 months with the possibility of extension(s).
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/10/2025 .
Position Profile
The Registrar Trainee positions in Neonatal Paediatrics will be part of a busy team working with the support of 10 neonatologists, enthusiastic teachers and mentors. FSH has a 24 bed Level 5-6 NICU with over 3700 births per year. The state of art neonatal unit is equipped with advanced intensive care facilities such as neonatal ventilators including High frequency ventilation, inhaled Nitric Oxide and therapeutic hypothermia facilities. Currently FSH NICU cares for neonates born >28 weeks gestation with aim to lower the gestation further in near future. Recently provision of pasteurised donor human milk (PDHM) has been made. FSH NICU is accredited for 3 months basic trainee ( core neonatal ) from Royal Australasian College of Physician (RACP).
Fiona Stanley Hospital has one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the country with a separate paediatric emergency department with attached 4 bed observation ward that sees 26,000 children/year. In addition, there is a mother baby unit (8 beds) and a youth mental health inpatient service (16-25 yrs 12 bed). FSH has a busy ambulatory service with a 24 bed Level 2 general paediatrics, developmental paediatrics, adolescent health, neonatology, paediatric subspecialties neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, respiratory, surgery and immunology in paediatric adapted clinic space.

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
