Overview
Technical Officer – Operational Technology and Design at the Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR) within the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). The role focuses on developing, operating and improving technical equipment, systems and operating standards (operational technologies) used to collect data in the field and support water regulation outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Operate and improve the NRAR operational technologies used to collect field data.
* Work closely with frontline investigative teams to gather and process data.
* Provide technical advice and recommendations to support future technology projects.
* Assist in the administration of day‑to‑day operational tasks as directed.
* Translate complex technical concepts into clear information for non‑technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
* A current NSW Driver's Licence.
* Practical experience or familiarity with water regulation technologies (hydrometric instrumentation, extraction metering systems, survey equipment, process control devices).
* Background in water‑related fields such as hydrology, water planning, natural resource management, environmental science or agriculture.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work under constrained timelines and resource limitations.
* Ability to travel to remote locations across NSW, including overnight stays.
