This position combines hands-on engineering with day-to-day oversight of a structural team. You’ll be responsible for maintaining technical standards, reviewing and signing off on designs, and ensuring the team is delivering efficiently and meeting project deadlines. Key responsibilities include: Provide technical oversight and sign-off on structural designs and documentation Lead structural engineering activities across multiple projects Ensure designs comply with relevant standards Review and approve calculations, drawings, and design deliverables Manage team workload, utilisation, and delivery performance Monitor and follow up on timesheets, resourcing, and productivity Ensure projects are delivered in line with schedules and budgets Support and mentor junior and mid-level engineers Working closely with Managing Director and supporting him with operational tasks when required This is not a purely managerial role — you’ll remain close to the work, providing technical input and maintaining engineering quality across all deliverables. To be successful, you will have: 10 years’ experience in structural engineering within mining, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sectors Demonstrated experience in both technical delivery and team leadership Chartered Engineer status (essential) RPEV registration (highly regarded) Strong understanding of structural design in industrial environments (steel and concrete) Experience reviewing and approving engineering deliverables Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain team performance This role suits someone looking to step into a broader position without losing the technical side of engineering. You’ll be working across a range of industrial projects with a team that requires clear direction and consistent delivery. If you’re looking for a role that combines technical responsibility with operational oversight, please apply.
