Base pay range
$86,439.00/yr - $92,795.00/yr
PSCA, Level 3, $86,439 - $92,795 p.a. plus 12% Superannuation

Applied research undertaken by the Plant Science and Herbarium Program documents the diversity and investigates the conservation biology of Western Australia’s flora. The Western Australian Herbarium houses the State collection of scientific specimens of vascular plants, algae, bryophytes, lichens, fungi and slime moulds. This collection is dynamic and provides the authoritative, permanent and physical record for the presence, distribution and names of plant species in Western Australia.
We currently have an opportunity for a Technical Officer - Identification Botanist to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing identification botanist services, with a particular focus on priority biological survey work across the Perth-Peel region. The role involves providing identifications for plant specimens and proving related advice to the Herbarium Curator, consultants, and other staff.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.
* Considerable knowledge of the flora of Western Australia.
* Significant experience with, and knowledge of, techniques and resources used in botanical identification.
* Relevant experience working with clients requiring an identification service.
* Experience in herbarium practices and processes, including specimen collection and curation.
