Offer description

The Ord Valley Aboriginal Health Service (OVAHS) is a leading not-for-profit healthcare provider dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. With a focus on delivering culturally appropriate and holistic care, OVAHS provides a wide range of primary health services to meet the unique needs of our community.

We are committed to enhancing access to healthcare, empowering individuals, and fostering a safe and inclusive environment where community members feel respected, supported, and valued. Our passionate and skilled team of healthcare professionals work alongside community members to address both physical and mental health challenges while promoting preventative care, health education, and lifestyle initiatives.

At OVAHS, we believe in working with the community to strengthen and prioritise the social, emotional, and physical health of every individual. As part of a growing and dynamic organisation, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference and be a part of positive, long-term change in the community.

About the Opportunity

Are you ready to bring your HR expertise to a values-driven organisation at the heart of the East Kimberley? Ord Valley Aboriginal Health Service (OVAHS) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Human Resource Manager to help shape our people strategies in a culturally safe way. This is more than a desk job—it's an opportunity to walk alongside Aboriginal communities, support a dedicated multidisciplinary workforce, and help build a strong, sustainable future for local health services.

This important role will see you coordinate HR operations, support workforce planning and development, support cultural capability, and embed systems that empower staff and reflect best practice. With OVAHS recently transitioning to a new online HR system, your skills will be vital in delivering practical, people-first solutions that support quality care and a thriving, community-led organisation.

This is more than just a job—it's an opportunity to be part of a team that values community, culture, and connection. You'll have access to professional development, a supportive work environment, and the chance to make a real difference every day.

OVAHS is committed to improving employment opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As a measure to achieve equality and support, Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA) will apply to this position. Aboriginal people are strongly encouraged to apply.

*OVAHS reserves the right to close the vacancy early if a suitable candidate is identified.

About You

You're a seasoned HR professional who thrives in environments that are dynamic, values-based, and deeply connected to community. You understand that people are the backbone of effective service delivery, and you're skilled at supporting, guiding, and developing them—especially in remote or cross-cultural settings.

You bring:

* A strong grasp of employment legislation, industrial relations, and HR best practices.
* Experience supporting diverse teams, ideally within Aboriginal organisations or communities.
* A consultative, solutions-focused mindset with the confidence to manage change and champion workforce development.
* An authentic passion for engaging with local staff and building relationships based on trust and cultural respect.

If you're ready to lead with purpose and contribute to lasting, community-led impact, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Benefits

OVAHS is an organisation that truly values its team, and is committed to improving employee knowledge, skills and experience. It offers a stable, safe and supportive work environment with a large, multi-disciplinary team including doctors, nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers, an audiologist, dietitian, mental health workers and a social support unit.

Your dedication will be rewarded with an attractive remuneration package circa $130,000 per annum pro rata (commensurate with qualifications and experience) including a range of benefits to significantly increase the value of your overall remuneration package including:

* Base Wage: $107,000 - $115,000 (dependent on Qualifications and experience) per annum pro rata + Super
