FIFO Casual Chefs – Central Queensland
Job Overview
ISS is looking for experienced chefs to join our casual FIFO team supporting mining village operations across Central Queensland. This role offers a flexible, casual opportunity for chefs seeking variety and work‐life balance without committing to a full‐time roster. You will work across multiple village sites, stepping into fast‐paced kitchens where your skills and reliability make an immediate impact.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook high‐quality meals consistently and efficiently.
* Support the kitchen team to maintain food safety, hygiene and WHS standards.
* Assist with stock management, ordering and kitchen operations.
* Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu execution and service improvements.
* Mentor junior kitchen staff and contribute to a positive team environment.
Qualifications
* Minimum 23 years professional work experience as a qualified chef.
* Certificate III in Commercial Cookery recognised in Australia (or higher).
* Food Safety Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
* Bulk cooking experience in a high‐volume kitchen environment (desirable).
* Strong teamwork, communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
* Knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP and WHS requirements.
* Must pass a full pre‐employment medical assessment and drug & alcohol screen.
* Current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 Certificate (highly desirable).
* Valid National Police Clearance within the last 12 months.
* Full working rights in Australia.
