Are you an experienced Project Engineer or Manager ready to take ownership of high-impact engineering projects in a complex, regulated environment? We are seeking a motivated professional to join a leading chemical manufacturer operating a Major Hazard Facility (MHF) in Melbourne's western suburbs.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in process, mechanical, chemical, or electrical engineering who thrives in a hands-on, site-based environment. You'll be responsible for managing brownfield projects end-to-end, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivering safe, cost-effective engineering solutions.
What you'll be doing
* Lead and deliver capital projects from concept through to commissioning.
* Manage project scope, estimation, design, installation, and commissioning.
* Provide discipline-specific engineering services (studies, analysis, detailed designs, calculations, and reports).
* Ensure compliance with MHF and EPA regulations and manage critical engineering documentation (P&IDs, hazard area dossiers, electrical drawings).
* Support site operations with engineering enhancements that drive productivity, reliability, and safety.
* Analyse project costs, schedules, and risks; provide regular reports to stakeholders.
* Drive the implementation of engineering excellence across site and with contractors.
About you
* Degree-qualified Engineer (Process, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical).
* Proven project management experience within chemical manufacturing, liquid processing, or similar industrial environments.
* Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills – able to "talk straight" and build alignment across teams.
* Hands-on, site-based experience with brownfield projects highly regarded.
* A safety-first mindset with the courage to challenge and drive improvement.
