Job Description Viva Energy Australia have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our team and provide expert legal advice and support across a diverse range of transactions and strategic initiatives.
This role will primarily focus on our Convenience Mobility (Retail) business, where you'll partner with stakeholders to navigate complex legal matters, ensure compliance, and enable business growth.
You'll play a critical role in shaping commercial outcomes, mitigating risk, and delivering practical solutions that align with our long-term objectives.
Responsibilities Requirements Convenience Mobility (Retail): Provide legal advice on contract interpretation, risk management, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Draft and review a variety of commercial agreements.
Advise on advertising/marketing campaigns and customer competitions.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure legal support aligns with business objectives and mitigates potential risks.
General Legal Support: Provide strategic legal advice to senior management and other departments within the organisation.
Stay updated on relevant legal developments and support compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures.
Manage relationships with external legal counsel and other third-party advisors.
Qualifications Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent; admission to practice law in Australia.
Current Australian Practising Certificate.
Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in commercial/corporate law gained within private practice or in-house (preferably within the convenience retailing or energy sectors).
In-depth knowledge of the Australian Consumer Law, with experience in competition law a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
