Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join our team in Canberra. As a senior member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for managing and delivering civil engineering projects to a high technical standard.

You will work closely with our multidisciplinary project teams to ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget. Your role will involve applying essential engineering expertise to a wide range of projects across the ACT, and providing technical leadership, client liaison, and mentorship to junior staff.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of our business unit and support our Community Development initiatives based in Canberra. You will work collaboratively with our team and specialist engineering designers and technical leads to ensure that all projects are completed in accordance with relevant standards, specifications, and drawings.

As a senior civil engineer, you will be responsible for:

* Managing and delivering civil engineering projects to a high technical standard.
* Supervising and supporting drafters and designers to maintain quality and efficiency in design outputs.
* Leading the design team in producing accurate, timely, and compliant documentation using appropriate engineering software.
* Acting as a technical authority, providing guidance and oversight throughout the design and documentation process.
* Maintaining strong client relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
* Ensuring compliance with statutory standards and internal quality systems.
* Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development.


Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

* A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
* Minimum 5 years working experience in civil engineering, and/or site supervision of land development and civil infrastructure projects.
* Professional Engineering registration.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines.
* Strong technical expertise and ability to produce accurate design documentation.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven experience in time management and organisational skills including the ability to manage resources and delegate tasks effectively.
* Ongoing commitment to professional development through self-study, training, and seminars, and maintaining your Continual Professional Development (CPD).
