**About the Role**:
The Accounts Payable Officer is primarily responsible for the timely and accurate payment of all duly authorised supplier accounts. As part of Finance Team you may also be required to assist with other duties as needed, such as Accounts Receivable, Payroll and general administrative tasks.
**Key activities**:
- Assist employees with invoice approvals, credit notes and general AP queries
- Ensuring approvals are work flowing in a timely manner through the automated AP OCR workflow system
- Process payment runs and create an electronic banking file for import to banking software or cheques as applicable
- Act as first point of contact for supplier / subcontractor accounts enquires
- Follow up on outstanding invoices, credits, and credit claims with staff members
- Ensure invoices are coded to the correct code
- Follow-up and resolve queries with creditors regarding outstanding monies
- Assist the Finance Manager to provide timely and accurate financial reporting and ad hoc advice, support, and assistance with accounts payable matters
- Undertake monthly reconciliation of creditor statements and following up any variances
- Become a system expert in the use of the automated accounts payable document workflow system and train new staff on its use
- General administration
**Experience & Skills required for the role**:
- Proven experience working in a high volume accounts payable function
- Sound understanding in requirements for preparing and reconciling accurate payment of accounts
- Ability to accurately record, manage and reconcile supplier and sub-contractor accounts
- Strong customer service skills, with proven experience liaising with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritise workload
- Strong computer literacy skills and fast data entry skills
- Experience in the construction industry would be preferable, but not compulsory
- Experience with an automated Accounts Payable or Document Management System is desirable
