About the Role:
The Commercial Specialist is responsible for developing and executing commercial strategies across multiple business units. This role involves managing key client relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that all commercial activities align with the organisations strategic objectives. Working closely with senior management, sales, finance, and legal teams, the Commercial Specialist will drive profitability, mitigate risk, and maintain compliance throughout the entire contract lifecycle from pre-contract negotiations through to project delivery and closeout.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and coordination in the negotiation and finalisation of contract terms, ensuring alignment with bid risk profiles.
- Review and advise on commercial solutions, including legal, financial, and operational factors within client head contracts.
- Develop strategies to ensure the operations team understands contract rights and obligations.
- Negotiate terms such as pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and performance metrics to protect the companys interests.
- Conduct risk and opportunity assessments for incorporation into Contract Management Plans.
Implement procedures at the project level to address commercial issues and ensure contract compliance.
- Regularly audit contract compliance and risk controls, reviewing the risk profiles of major contracts.
- Manage contract disputes, variations, and maintain the variations register.
- Review subcontract commercial conditions to ensure alignment with company standards.
- Advise operational management on commercial frameworks and solutions to secure profitable work.
Ensure all completed works meet required brand and quality standards.
- Optimise campaigns to ensure timely completion within budget and in line with company standards.
- Collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive commercial and client engagement efforts.
- Develop and implement client engagement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction, loyalty, and retention.
- Regularly meet with key clients to understand their needs, address concerns, and identify current opportunities.
- Perform any lawful and reasonable tasks as required within your skill set and capabilities.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Bachelors degree in Law, Commerce, Business, or another relevant discipline.
- Proven experience managing successful contract delivery and project disciplines up to $20 million in value, with multiple projects managed concurrently.
- Advanced knowledge of project contract administration, business management, and project management.
- Strong organisational and business acumen skills.
- Experience working within a contracting environment across shutdowns and projects.
- Demonstrated experience in collaborative and consultative processes at a professional level.
- Ability to manage contractual obligations in a timely and accurate manner.
- Capacity to work flexibly and adaptively in complex environments with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and attention to detail.
- A proactive, solutions-focused, and positive attitude.
