Step into a pivotal role as Legal Officer within the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission, providing expert legal advice and services on matters related to greyhound racing, regulatory integrity, and administrative law. In this dynamic position, you will play a crucial role in shaping legal strategies, addressing legislative issues, and contributing to the overall regulatory functions of the Commission.
Your responsibilities will include offering legal advice within the realm of greyhound racing, regulatory integrity, and administrative law under supervision. You will draft and review essential documents, such as briefing notes and correspondence, primarily focusing on the regulatory and disciplinary aspects of the Commission. This role presents an opportunity to provide clear legal analysis, ensuring the Commission's legal resources are effectively directed towards areas of high demand and priority.
About You:
Are you a legal professional with a passion for making a difference in the regulatory landscape? We are seeking an individual with legal qualifications, admission as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of NSW, and eligibility for a current practicing certificate, with a minimum of 12 months post-admission experience. Your expertise will be utilized to conduct legal matters including appearing in Racing Appeal Tribunal matters in accordance with instructions, legislative requirements, and the Commission’s policies, procedures, guidelines, and precedents.
The key challenges of this role include providing advisory services to manage legal risks in a dynamic and sometimes volatile environment. You will be tasked with prioritizing your workload amidst challenging workloads and competing deadlines. As a Legal Officer, you will also need to convey legal concepts in clear and simple language to a diverse range of stakeholders.
