Position Overview
The Pharmacy Fill Technician accurately prepares prescriptions, including picking, labeling, scanning, and final preparation for pharmacist verification. They also help maintain an organized workspace and ensure regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Pull medications from shelving and storage areas
Check accuracy of final preparations before pharmacist review
Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently under pharmacist supervision
Process returned drugs and dispose of them per procedures
Assist with pre-packing and labeling during low-volume times
Package materials manually
Follow all regulations, including HIPAA
Maintain a clean, organized workstation and restock supplies
Report scanning issues to the pharmacist
Adhere to safety, attendance, and dress code policies
Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
State-regulated pharmacy technician license/certification
Previous pharmacy experience (1+ years preferred, especially in long-term care)
Knowledge of medications (brand and generic)
Good communication skills in English
Ability to work at a moderate pace and during inclement weather
Reliable with good organization and attention to detail
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Physical ability to lift light loads
Availability for various shifts and days
Physical Demands
Sit or stand for 7-10 hours daily
Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, walking, crawling
Work extended hours as needed
Lift/move up to 50 pounds
