Job Details:
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the management, maintenance and support of assigned systems. This position installs operating system patches, software upgrades, software installations, and modifications of systems to ensure systems availability to customer KPIs.

This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Manage and progress incident tickets / assigned tasks to completion in accordance with SLAs. Escalate to technical management when SLAs are likely to be breached
- May design, develop, test and deploy new solutions
- May manage databases
- May provide Network Systems administration assistance
- Analyse and troubleshoot faults and make recommendations as to the most effective course of action
- Provide support to other internal teams
- Proactively monitor servers and related infrastructure
- Provide support on patching of critical servers as well as upgrades
- Troubleshoot network problems and outages; may maintain network cabling including installation
- May be required to configure and install equipment
- Plan, document, communicate and execute planned changes through the change management process
- Develop procedural and user documentation
- Liaise with and manage third party providers of systems as required
- Provides end user training on systems as required
- Train up and mentor junior administrator staff

General Duties and Responsibilities:

- Comply with Cubic's Quality Management System
- Comply with Cubic Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures
- Comply with security in accordance with established policies and procedures of the organisations
- Comply with Cubic Human Resources Procedures
- Other duties as requested

Minimum Job Requirements:
**Qualifications**:

- Degree qualified or equivalent in information technology or related discipline
- Industry Certification for Solaris, Linux, Windows, VMware, and/or Networking is desirable

Skills/Experience/Knowledge

Essential:

- 5 years experience in a systems administration role preferably in a medium - large IT environment
- Server Networking skills such as TCP/IP, Cisco Networking
- Linux Redhat experience
- Experience hosting database environments
- Experience providing high availability services
- Experience supporting and building server operating systems

Desirable:

- Knowledge of LAN and WAN based technologies particularly Cisco
- Knowledge of Active Directory
- Knowledge of SAN connectivity to servers
- Knowledge of operating system hardening
- Enterprise Backup experience
- Scripting (Perl, VBS, and PowerShell)

- This role will require flexibility on working hours and location, including weekend and out of hours

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Disciplined approach to change management and system documentation
- Display strong abilities writing technology based documentation
- Good project management and time management skills.
- Self motivated
- Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
- High levels of customer support and service delivery
- Have the flexibility to travel when required
