William Barrett and Sons, a prestigious fourth-generation family-run funeral home and an industry leader in Australia, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Funeral Directors Assistant. This role is integral to our mission of making a positive difference in people's most difficult times.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the set-up and execution of funeral services, ensuring each aspect is handled with dignity and respect.
* Operate audio-visual systems during services to ensure a seamless experience.
* Conduct the transfer of deceased persons with utmost care, professionalism and safety.
* Prepare coffins and caskets, adhering to specific family requests and maintaining high standards of presentation.
* Provide support to funeral directors and other team members as needed.
Requirements:
* A current and valid driver's license.
* Ability to provide a recent police clearance certificate.
* Flexibility to work 13 weekends per year and availability for on-call duties one night per week.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work compassionately with grieving families.
* High attention to detail, a solution-focussed attitude, exceptional teamwork and communication skills and a commitment to professionalism in all aspects of the role.
Desirable Qualities:
* Previous experience in the funeral industry or a similar role (preferred but not essential).
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* A respectful, empathetic, over-and-above approach to service.
* Ability to work well under pressure and in emotionally charged situations.
