**Who are we looking for?**
We are seeking a Technical Officer Building Trades to join Facilities Management, Administrative Division.
The Technical Officer (Building Trades) is responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of building maintenance and projects at QUT. The Technical Officer (Building Trades) is one of four Technical Officers currently reporting to the Team Leader (Building Trades) and one of eight Technical Officers in the Maintenance Services Section. The Technical Officer group is expected to work closely and collaboratively together to ensure consistency and quality in the services provided by the Section. Technical Officers are also expected to work closely with other technical, engineering and project management staff in other operational areas of the Facilities Management Department. The position interacts with a wide range of customers across QUT, with suppliers of goods and services and with external services contractors. Maintenance staff are required to work in a corporate uniform supplied by QUT.

**About the area**
Facilities Management sits within the Administrative Division and is responsible for The Facilities Management Department within the Division of Administrative Services is responsible for managing the process of design, construction, maintenance and operation of the physical facilities, and the provision of a range of support services across the University's two main campuses at Gardens Point, Kelvin Grove and a range of smaller offsite facilities..
**What you need to succeed**
1. Evidence of a building trade qualification. A minimum of five (5) years' experience in the building trades together with a minimum of one (1) years' experience in a supervisory role within a medium or large private or public organisation.
2. Demonstrated supervisory skills and a proven ability to engage and supervise external contractors to ensure that the services provided are consistent with the contract specifications.
3. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to assess operational and management priorities in a customer-focused environment.
4. Knowledge and understanding of the relevant Building Act, Building Codes and Regulations, standards, and statutory requirements.
5. Demonstrated experience and skills in project management.
6. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position (ie climbing ladders, handling and/or lifting heavy items of equipment and working at heights). Be willing to obtain EWP, forklift and scaffold licences.
7. Possession of a current Queensland C Class driver's licence
9. Demonstrated computer literacy including an understanding and working knowledge of operational support systems including maintenance management and finance.
