Selection Criteria

SC1 Demonstrated experience in reading music and teaching a variety of instruments

SC2 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, staff, parents/carers and the wider community.

SC3 Demonstrated experience in time management and record keeping.

SC4 Demonstrated experience tutoring students


Role

* The Music Instructor will provide instrumental and/or ensemble instruction to students as part of Casterton Secondary College's co‑curricular music program.

* The Music Instructor is responsible to the Principal, via the Director of Teaching and Learning.


Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Music Instructor may include:

* Deliver regularly scheduled instruction to individual and small group instrumental students as per the Music timetable.

* Keep accurate records of progress and attendance, in order to provide meaningful feedback and parent communications as required.

* Consult with the Director of Teaching and Learning.
* Work collaboratively with the Director of Teaching and Learning to create a timetable that is compatible with the school's goals for individual students; this will also include the management of student free days.
* Develop effective and positive relationships with all staff and students.
* Maintain professional standards of communication with staff, students, and parents/carers using appropriate modes.
* Observe school rules, procedures, practices and safety aspects, treating all students and staff with respect.
* Attend meetings when required.
* Perform at school functions as required.
* Encourage students to perform at community events.
* Maintain the Music Room by regularly checking equipment for possible damage, updating asset records, obtaining quotes for repair; communication with the Business Manager is expected.
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
* Adhere to OHS requirements, uphold all policies and procedures of Casterton Secondary College, and take all reasonable care to ensure that any actions do not impact on the health and safety of others in the school.
* Maintain valid WWCC documentation.
* Maintain a professional level of dress and appearance.
* Respect and understand the need for confidentiality.
* Other duties as determined by the Principal.
