Cairns Community Legal Centre Inc is seeking expressions of interest from motivated individuals who wish to join our voluntary Board as a Board Member to fill a casual vacancy.
About Us
The Cairns Community Legal Centre Inc (the Centre) was established in 1991 and incorporated in January 1993.
The Centre is a not-for-profit, government-funded community organisation committed to providing free legal and social justice services to a range of people in the community experiencing disadvantage. The Centre is one of more than 200 community legal centres nationwide.
The Centre extends its services across a range of areas of law including guardianship, domestic violence, peace and good behaviour matters, consumer law, credit, debt, motor vehicle property damage, discrimination and human rights, family law, child protection, elder law, criminal and traffic matters.
This work is provided for a diverse range of clients including people with disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, those experiencing domestic or family violence, financial difficulties and homelessness.
Our Board
The Board has a maximum of 7 Board Members who meet approximately 9 times each year, generally face to face at our Cairns office.
The Board also meet annually for the Annual General Meeting, usually held in December.
The Role
The Board of Cairns Community Legal Centre Inc is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals, and applicants with any or all of the following skills will be viewed favourably:
* Legal Knowledge
* HR Knowledge

Board members must complete a National Police Check before appointment.
Board members must be able to commit to prepare for and attend regular Board meetings and participate in other activities, including Board training, and attendance at Annual General Meetings.
