Primary objective
Lead the delivery of the Northern Territory Government Arts Grants Program and manage the Arts Development team, ensuring high-
quality grants administration, strong governance, and effective sector development. Drive stakeholder engagement, workshops and
capacity-building initiatives that support arts practice and community participation across the NT.

Arts NT operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a small but high-performing team. The position requires a leader who is
solutions-focused, adaptable and able to respond positively and strategically to change, competing priorities, and evolving Government
directions. A collaborative, calm and supportive leadership approach is essential to maintain a healthy team culture and deliver high-
quality services to the arts sector.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead the Arts Development team including supervision, workload management, mentoring and building capability in grants
administration and sector engagement.
2. Oversee delivery of the Arts Grants Program, ensuring compliance, timely processes, strong governance and alignment to
Government and strategic priorities.
3. Plan and deliver workshops, information sessions and regional engagement activities to strengthen sector capability and improve
access to grants.
4. Build and manage productive stakeholder relationships with artists, organisations, peak bodies, local government and
Territory/Commonwealth agencies.
5. Monitor and report on funded organisations, ensuring accountability to funding agreements, business plans and performance
schedules.
6. Contribute to program design, policy development and strategic initiatives that grow a sustainable, accessible NT arts sector.
7. Prepare high-quality written advice including Ministerials, briefings, complex correspondence and program performance reporting.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Strong contemporary leadership and team management capability, with experience delivering outcomes in complex, high-demand
environments.
2. Proven experience delivering grant programs, including use of online grants systems, assessment processes, risk management,
contracts and compliance.
3. Well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with a record of facilitating productive partnerships,
delivering workshops or capacity-building sessions, and engaging constructively with diverse communities.
4. Demonstrated experience in arts administration, including financial management, program evaluation, data interpretation, and
working knowledge of contemporary arts sector issues.
5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team, manage competing priorities, and exercise high levels of
judgement, confidentiality, initiative and organisational skill
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in arts, creative industries, public policy, business administration or a related discipline.
2. Understanding of contemporary issues in arts and cultural development, particularly within the NT context.
