AQA was established in 1987 by a group of people with quadriplegia who saw a need to improve access to information, support and employment opportunities for people who had sustained a spinal cord injury (SCI) – particularly quadriplegia. Today AQA continues to provide individualised supports to people with spinal cord injury and other physical disabilities.
About the role
We are seeking a reliable and caring Support Worker to provide assistance to a client with complex care needs. This role offers regular hours and the chance to deliver genuine support that enhances quality of life.
- Various shifts available – Morning and afternoon shifts along with Sleepovers available
- Provide personal care, including showering, grooming, dressing,
- Assist with bowel and urinary care, including abdominal massage, digital stimulation, and catheter management
- Manual handling, including transfers with a ceiling hoist and other safe practices
- Support with community access, including social, leisure, shopping, therapy sessions, church activities and domestic tasks
About you
- Compassionate, respectful, and committed to client-centred care
- Experienced in supporting individuals with complex care needs including bowel and urinary care
- Confident in manual handling and protected use of mobility equipment (e.g., ceiling hoist)
- Flexible and adaptable to support the clients' personal preferences, privacy, and independence
- Reliable, with a current driver’s license and comfortable driving a client’s vehicle
