Fire Alarm Technician (Engineering Technologist)
Fire Protection Services is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Technician (Engineering Technologist) to join our team in Wangara, Western Australia. This is a full-time position where you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems across our client sites.
What you'll be doing
Apply engineering principles to design, adapt and optimise fire detection and alarm systems in accordance with Australian Standards and project specifications.
Conduct system performance analysis, load calculations and technical evaluations to ensure fire alarm systems meet operational and regulatory requirements.
Develop technical specifications, system layouts and integration methodologies for new and upgraded fire alarm installations.
Investigate complex system faults using engineering diagnostic methods and implement corrective design modifications to improve reliability and performance.
Evaluate system compliance with relevant Australian Standards and undertake technical risk assessments to ensure safety and regulatory adherence.
Prepare detailed engineering documentation including technical reports, system performance assessments, compliance certifications and modification proposals.
Provide advanced technical advisory services to clients regarding system design, optimisation strategies and lifecycle performance improvements.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to implement system enhancements, improve operational efficiency and introduce innovative fire detection technologies.
Participate in project planning, cost estimation and technical coordination of fire protection system upgrades and installations.
What we're looking for
Formal qualifications in Fire Protection, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 3 years' experience as a Fire Alarm Technician
Detailed knowledge of fire alarm system installation, testing and maintenance
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites
