About the Role
Myndshift Group have been engaged by our client partner, a leading Mackay-based supplier of new, used, and reconditioned parts and equipment. The business also delivers dismantling, repair, and rebuild services, supporting the mining and heavy equipment sectors across Central Queensland with a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and technical expertise. This is a hands‑on, workshop‑based role focused on the assembly, disassembly, repair, and testing of hydraulic cylinders used across heavy mobile equipment. You'll work primarily on OEM CAT and Hitachi cylinders, supporting trucks, dozers, and smaller excavators. The role also includes a leadership component, providing guidance to a small team of two while ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
* Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble hydraulic cylinders to specification
* Diagnose and troubleshoot faults including seals, rods, pistons, and associated components
* Pressure test and validate cylinder performance prior to release
* Read, measure, and work to tight tolerances and technical specifications
* Maintain accurate job documentation and time‑on‑task records
* Provide leadership and guidance to a small workshop team
* Uphold safety, quality, and housekeeping standards
What We're Looking For
* Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent trade qualification)
* Proven experience repairing hydraulic cylinders in a workshop environment
* Experience with OEM equipment – CAT, Hitachi, Liebherr (highly regarded)
* Strong ability to read measurements and work to precise tolerances
* Previous leadership or mentoring experience
* Strong safety focus and attention to detail
* Willingness to complete pre‑employment medical checks
