About the Mental Health Division:
Austin Health’s Mental Health Division (MHD) provides care and services through a comprehensive range of teams to meet the needs of mental health consumers and carers throughout Victoria. Services in the MHD are located across Austin Health and in the community.
Secure Extended Care Unit (SECU):
The Secure Extended Care Unit is a service of the Adult Division in the Mental Health Division of Austin Health. It is in the same precinct as the Adult Inpatient Unit. The SECU is a regional service which provides a rehabilitation and recovery service to individuals aged between 18-64 years with severe, unremitting mental health symptoms and complex needs and who need the support of a secure environment. The SECU provides therapeutic care in a contained and structured environment. The unit has 25 beds and accepts people from the North, Northeast Northwest, and Inner East of Melbourne.
About the role:
This is a senior Medical Position and carries with it the professional responsibilities of clinical leadership, teaching and training as well as administrative requirements. You will be working with a team of professionals to make a difference to consumers impacted by mental health difficulties.

You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be considered for the role, you must:
* Be a registered Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Must be a registered Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent post graduate specialist qualification.
* Experience in providing services to people with serious mental illness.
* A commitment to community approaches to the care of the mentally ill and providing support for their families.
* Have demonstrated commitment to high quality patient care.
