Key Responsibilities
The day-to-day tasks of an Assistant Café Manager are diverse, covering everything from team leadership to financial administration.
* Team Leadership & Supervision: You will assist in recruiting, training, and supervising staff. This includes conducting briefings, creating staff rosters, and motivating the team to maintain a positive and productive work environment. A core part of this is leading by example on the café floor .
* Customer Service Excellence: A primary focus is ensuring guests have a remarkable experience. This involves welcoming guests, taking orders, providing menu recommendations, and professionally handling any customer feedback or complaints to ensure satisfaction .
* Operational Management: You will oversee the day-to-day front-of-house and back-of-house operations. Key tasks include:
* Coordinating communication between the service and kitchen teams .
* Maintaining high standards of food and beverage quality, speed of service, and presentation .
* Ensuring the café's cleanliness, tidiness, and the functionality of all facilities .
* Managing inventory levels, dealing with vendors, and supporting stock control processes .
* Financial & Administrative Duties: The role involves supporting the Café Manager with administrative tasks to meet business goals. This can include assisting with scheduling and payroll, daily reporting, billing, managing controllable costs, and contributing ideas to boost sales and revenue .
* Health & Safety Compliance: You must ensure that all health, safety, and hygiene regulations are strictly followed. This includes conducting regular checks and ensuring all safety protocols are adhered to by the team
