Anesthetist Specialist
The Position:
This is an exceptional opportunity to work as a full-time or part-time permanent Anesthetist at Central Queensland's largest hospital.
As a senior member of the anesthesia team, you will be responsible for pre- and perioperative anesthetic care of patients and will have input into the management of patients in the High Dependency Unit and in emergency situations when on duty.
The department is an accredited training facility and thus you will be required to supervise Principal House Officers, Junior House Officers, and Interns. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to teaching and research within the department.
The range of services delivered to Central Queenslanders continues to grow as does the anesthesia service. As a result, more specialists are needed to support the growing population.

Facility Overview
The 305-bed hospital is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland. The facility provides public health services across Central Queensland to a growing population of approximately 250,000 people and employs over 3,700 staff, treating more than 700,000 patients each year.
To reflect the growing demand for healthcare in the region, the hospital has been redeveloped, and now boasts state-of-the-art medical equipment.
The hospital has four operating theaters and two procedure rooms. The operating theater complex is supported by an 8-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/High Dependency Unit (HDU). The Department is accredited for specialist training and is involved in teaching and research.
Eligibility
You must hold the FANZCA or postgraduate qualifications and experience in anesthesiology that meet ANZCA requirements for practicing in this position. Alternatively, you may hold NZ FANZCA qualifications or IMG training assessed by ANZCA and a substantially comparable outcome.
