Head Chef – Om Nom Nom Pizza & Pasta Bar
Om Nom Nom Pizza & Pasta Bar is seeking a creative, bold, and driven Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations. We are a small, fast-paced venue that gets busy quickly in bursts, so we're looking for someone who thrives under pressure, leads from the front, and truly loves hospitality.
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership position where you will oversee all kitchen operations while having the freedom to create exciting specials and new menu items. You'll play a key role in maintaining quality, efficiency, and developing our small-team culture.
With the right candidate this can even be on a 4 day work week. So this is the perfect job for a Head Chef looking for more of work life balance and wants to give up the 45 + hours a week lifestyle. 38 hours- MAX 40 hours available.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
* Lead, train, mentor, and motivate a small kitchen team
* Oversee daily kitchen operations and service standards
* Develop new menu items, specials, and seasonal offerings
* Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation of all dishes
* Manage rosters in line with business needs and labour budgets
* Handle food costing, menu pricing, and portion control
* Order stock, manage suppliers, and minimise food waste
* Maintain food safety, hygiene, and WHS compliance at all times
* Monitor stock levels, conduct stocktakes, and control costs
* Set up and refine kitchen systems and procedures
* Manage prep schedules and service flow to handle peak periods
* Lead by example during busy service and maintain a calm, positive kitchen
* Work closely with ownership/management on menu direction and business growth
* Ensure equipment is maintained and report maintenance needs
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience as a Head Chef (1 year) or strong Sous Chef ready to step up
* Passionate, creative, and confident in developing new dishes
* Strong leadership and people-management skills
* Excellent organisation and time-management abilities
* Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
* Strong understanding of food costing and kitchen operations
