About the Role
The Friends' School invites applications from an inspiring and dedicated Teacher of English to join our Senior School team.
We seek an educator passionate about teaching English across Years 7 to 12, engaging and challenging students while fostering critical thinking, creativity, and love of language.
The successful applicant will be committed to innovative teaching practices, delivering programs aligned with the Australian Curriculum, Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE), International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), and the School's Quaker ethos.
Key Responsibilities
Teach English across Years 7 to 12, inspiring and engaging students.
Collaboratively develop and deliver English programs in alignment with the Australian Curriculum, TCE, IBDP, and the Friends' School syllabus.
Actively participate in the School's pastoral care system, including tutoring student groups.
Contribute to co-curricular programs, supervisory duties, Assemblies, Gatherings, and School events.
Work positively and collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider community.
Uphold School policies, ethical standards, and the Quaker ethos in all teaching and interactions.
Participate in professional learning aligned with the School's Improvement Plan and strategic goals.
Ensure compliance with child safeguarding and mandatory reporting requirements.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in education and English teaching.
Current or eligibility for Teachers Registration Board Tasmania registration.
Current Working with Vulnerable People registration (employment category) and a recent National Police Check.
Strong understanding of the Australian Curriculum and contemporary teaching methodologies.
Commitment to pastoral care, co-curricular involvement, and professional learning.
Alignment with the Purpose & Concerns, Learning Principles, and ethos of The Friends' School.
