Your New Role
Are you ready to take a leadership role in medical education? Our School is seeking a Senior Lecturer to join our vibrant team. This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the future of medical education, specifically focusing on Year 5 teaching, clinical placement, and curriculum design.
In this role you will advance teaching and learning in the medical field, leading innovative curriculum design and development, enhancing pedagogies, and supporting your fellow teaching staff. This role also involves contributing to the integration of research, scholarship, and professional practice into teaching activities, fostering a culture of excellence in education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Deputy Year Coordinator and undertake the role of the Year Coordinator in their absence.
- Provide support in the coordination of Year 5 of the MBBS course in association with the Year 5 team.
- Develop and revise teaching activities, including simulations, interprofessional activities and support programmes.
- Participate in teaching and fieldwork activities.
- Participate in curriculum review and write curriculum documents.
- Design and contribute to formative and summative assessments.
- Support the delivery and review of Year 5 workplace-based activities.
- Contribute to the teaching and learning experiences for other year levels as directed by the Associate Dean (Medicine) and provide support to the Year 5 Coordinator.
SELECTION CRITERIA
To be our ideal candidate, you should possess:
- A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for a Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role).
- A degree in Medicine with APHRA registration.
- A proven track record of excellence in teaching and learning.
- Success in securing external grants to support teaching projects and initiatives.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in leading curriculum initiatives and professional development of staff.
- An emerging record of peer-reviewed publications in top-tier educational journals.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with cross-cultural sensitivity.

About us
The Curtin Medical School comprises the Disciplines of Medicine, Medical Radiation Science, Pharmacy, Laboratory Medicine and Biomedical Science. It is one of four schools within the Faculty of Health Sciences, alongside two affiliated research institutes (the Curtin Medical Research Institute and the Curtin enAble Institute). The flagship Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program commenced in 2017, and is delivered predominantly in state-of-the-art clinical teaching and simulation facilities on the University's Bentley campus.
The MBBS is the only undergraduate medical degree in Western Australia, and now enrols up to 120 new students each year, with preferential selection of students with a rural, Indigenous Australian or other equity background. Its unique curriculum and dynamic clinical placement program is driven by a future-focussed approach to medicine. In addition, the School has over 10 affiliated metropolitan hospital placement sites, along with health campuses in Midland (Perth) and Kalgoorlie (Goldfields, WA), is a member of the Rural Clinical School WA, and has close links with metropolitan and rural primary care and other community-based healthcare providers.
