About the role and team
We're looking for a Catering Officer (Baker) to join our Catering team of seven to support the provision of bakery items at Port Phillip Prison. Reporting to our Catering Manager, your skills and experience will play an essential part in helping the prison kitchen run smoothly. Producing baked goods for prisoners to align with set menus, in this role you will:
- Prepare and bake: bread, bread rolls, muffins, biscuits and desserts that are of sufficient quantity, quality, and nutritional value to maintain health and well-being
- Support religious beliefs, and dietary requirements aligning with hygiene and food handling legislation
- Provide the expert oversight to prison workers in the prison kitchen bakery, guiding seven to eight prisoners to support production
- Elevate the quality of baked goods through creative recipe revisions, ensuring optimal taste and nutrition
- Ensure that the preparation, reheating and packaging of the daily meals complies with recommended dietary intakes and guidelines developed from time to time by the National Health and Medical Research Council
What we're looking for
The prison kitchen is a fast paced, high production environment so we're looking for individuals with experience with volume, variety and who show inventive ideas. It is essential that you hold a:
- Certificate III in Baking
