Our Australian business owns and manages the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine, and the Tropicana Gold Mine. These are two of Western Australia's premier gold operations, with ongoing investment and exploration taking place across both open pit and underground operations at each site.
We're seeking a skilled Underground Mine Geologist to join our Geology team at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you'll be based on a roster of 8 days on / 6 days off, with direct flights available from Perth or Kalgoorlie.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work on one of the biggest and most geologically complex underground gold operations in Western Australia. As a mine geologist, you'll participate in a grade control process utilising five underground RC rigs and conditional simulation. Your time will also be spent assisting with production tracking, interpreting drill results, and planning and designing drill programs.
You'll form part of a skilled team backed by your Senior Mine Geologist and supported with the resources you need to succeed. The team culture is supportive and inclusive, with respect, collaboration, and care for its people at its core.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver the grade control, ore definition, ore production, material tracking and reconciliation processes to meet monthly production schedules.
* Demonstrate safety leadership and 'walk the talk'.
* Coordinate with geology and mining teams to ensure timely execution of the mine plan.
* Manage and report daily, weekly and monthly production activities, reviewing against scheduled performance.
* Undertake underground mapping of development drives and train graduate geologists and technicians.
* Use experience to deliver industry best practices in drilling program design, QAQC, database management, reconciliations and material tracking.
* Oversee reverse circulation drilling activities from scheduling to implementation.
* Assist in generating high quality models using conditional simulation techniques.
* BUILD AND MAINTAIN COLLABORATIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH ALLIANCE PARTNERS ACROSS SITE.
* Complete tasks in accordance with all relevant safety instructions, procedures and rules, and the Duty of care.
Your Background:
* A degree in Geology.
* 2+ years in Mine Geology and comfort working in underground environments.
* A strong sense of safety.
* Clear and concise communication and written skills.
* A comprehensive understanding of the mining cycle.
* Proficient in 3D software packages, particularly Vulcan, Leapfrog or Deswik.
* Experience in QAQC practices.
* Australian Working Rights.
* A current C class Manual Drivers Licence.
* The ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
