About the Placement
This internship is facilitated by the CSIRO's Generation STEM Links program and takes place with SCT Operations, a consulting company dedicated to addressing underground mining challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist experienced consultants in gathering and analysing geotechnical data.
* Conduct field tests and measurements to assess rock mechanics and underground conditions.
* Support the development of mitigation strategies and solutions for mining operations.
* Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to complex engineering challenges.
* Contribute to the design and development of innovative technologies in underground mining.
Work Arrangements
* Start date: Flexible
* Working arrangement: Part-time for 200 hours, on a fixed-term contract.
* Remuneration: $25/hour
* Location: On-site
Requirements:
* Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
* Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate qualification.
About You
* Studying a tertiary qualification in geology, geophysics, earth science (engineering geologist pathway), or civil, mechanical, or geotechnical engineering (geotechnical engineer pathway).
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Interest in geology, rock mechanics, and mining operations.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
